海角社区 Peer Mentoring via Mentor Collective

The Mentor Collective program enhances the student experience by linking them one-on-one with faculty, staff, or peer mentor. Students are paired with someone invested in their success — a person ready to listen, inspire, help navigate challenges, and recognize opportunities. Students will learn what to expect in school, how to approach challenges and gain career advice. At the same time, mentors will build their networks and develop skills to become better professionals and leaders.

How it Works

Students will be matched with a 海角社区 Faculty, Staff or Peer mentor based on common interests, background, academics, and/or professional aspirations. To get started, students and mentors register and complete an online survey to paint a holistic picture of their interests and experiences. Mentors and mentees will be matched and communication will begin via text message, email or face to face meetings.

What do Mentors and Mentees Discuss?

  • How do I balance the demands of school, responsibilities, and socializing?
  • How can I set myself up for academic, social, and career success?

Testimonials

Gaby JamieI enjoy that I am able to help others without expecting something in return. I can be the help someone needs. I like that I am someone a person goes to talk without the feeling of getting judged. - Gaby Jaime, Mentor

Ariana JuarezI enjoy bring a mentor because I believe that all students need someone they can rely on. Being that person they can rely on makes me happy  as I feel that I am doing the right thing. I want to be the support that I received once I got to 海角社区. Being a mentor not only makes me feel happy that I’m helping others, but seeing our mentees succeed not only academically but also socially makes me very happy for them. -Ariana Juarez, Mentor
