Student Profile: Tiffaney Jeske

Tiffaney Jeske earned her Associate of Science in Biology from 海角社区 in 2020. Becoming a biologist was not Plan A for Tiffaney -- the coursework satisfied continuing education credits necessary for her healthcare career. She never had considered outdoor science until she participated in field research related to her microbiology and ecology courses. 海角社区 Department of Biology also offered small student-to-teacher ratios, high levels of faculty involvement, and excellent intradepartmental advising. 海角社区 equipped Tiffaney with the tools to not only function but excel in her upper-division coursework.
Summer 2021, Tiffaney interned at Twin Falls County Pest Abatement. There she researched alternative methods of mosquito surveillance. She was also introduced to drone technology and is working toward becoming a licensed drone pilot. During her senior year at ISU, Tiffaney will continue researching stream ecology under Drs. Colden Baxter and Rebecca Hale. Specifically, she is investigating the effect of stream drying on bioavailability and primary production. Ultimately, Tiffaney would love to combine her background in healthcare with ecology to promote public health.
Outside of work and school, Tiffaney enjoys cross-country running, rafting, rock climbing, and skiing. She also enjoys art and attending live music with her husband.
