Admission Steps

Students will learn basic welding and fabrication as well as durable skills in their professional development classes. We start every new class in the fall, and classes continue through summer of the following year. After students have successfully finished the classes on campus, they will go to work and receive 360 hours of onsite cooperative education with a local industry partner. This is a limited enrollment program, and classes are held in-person.

  1. Apply to 海角社区 and become a Golden Eagle: Fill out the free online form to Apply to 海角社区, then watch your email for your acceptance letter and instructions to get set up as a new student. 

  2. Take a mechanical reasoning test: All students interested in the Diesel Technology program need to complete the mechanical reasoning test in the 海角社区 Testing Center. You will need your 海角社区 student ID number and a valid photo ID with you in order to take the test. This is a timed 12-minute test. You must arrive one hour before closing, so be sure to check the current 海角社区 Testing Center hours of operation

  3. Prepare for Registration: Make an appointment with an  to declare your major and get registration clearance.
  4. Prepare for Additional Required Expenses: Budget now so that you are ready to purchase the additional materials listed below:
    - Textbooks: $320
    - Tools: $4,000-$8,000 depending on quality and brand
  5. Meet with Instructor: Schedule an appointment with program manager Dustin Holt to discuss next steps.
